Which wine violates nearly every tenant of ‘fine winemaking,’ yet is indisputably one of the world’s great fine wines? Which wine ranges from dry to sweet, but due to its remarkable acidity always remains deft and alive on the palate? What is the longest-lived wine—the wine that can remain intact in the bottle over centuries? Which wine will nearly every sommelier make time taste? What is ‘America’s wine’? The answer to each of these questions is the same: Madeira. Join local wine specialist J Henahan—wine portfolio manager of Haus Alpenz/Sotolon Selections and autodidact behind such diverse wine lists as La Belle Vie, Solera, Sen Yai Sen Lek, Monello and Octo Fishbar, amongst others—for a deep dive into one of the world’s greatest and most distinctive wines. Attendees will enjoy a snack plate from the France 44 Cheese Shop and special event pricing on all wines tasted. Participants must be 21 years old. Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot attend a class you have registered for, registration is transferable to another France 44 class through Dojour. All classes are subject to minimum enrollment. If a class is cancelled, we'll notify you 48 hours in advance. Please notify France 44 with any dietary restrictions or preferences.
