The wine and food scene in Minneapolis/St. Paul is constantly changing and growing, and we’ve been spoiled by incredible restaurants and talented sommeliers who champion local food sources and small-production, character-driven wines. We invite you to get to know the faces behind the wine glasses, and see what excites them most about their jobs and drives their passion for wine and food. We’d like to present Somm Series classes at France 44, where once a month we feature a guest sommelier from a local restaurant and give them the stage to talk about whatever is making them “tick” at the moment. We'd like to introduce Madison Pettit as our November guest somm! After several unfulfilling corporate jobs, Madison left the desk world and made her part time restaurants gigs a full-time career. It was a job at a wine bar called Toast in Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood that pushed Madison into the world of wine. What started as a general interest in being able to do a better job bloomed into what some might call an obsession with the academic side of wine. Madison earned her Level 2 Certified Sommelier award from the Court of Master Sommeliers and is now preparing for the Level 3 Advanced Exam. She can currently be found most nights of the week on the floor of 112 Eatery. In her spare time, she enjoys studying wine and hanging out with her two adorable dogs. Since Beaujolais Nouveau Day is right around the corner (November 21st) it's only appropriate that Madison wants to geek out with you about the wines of Beaujolais... but these wines aren't the kool-aid fruit juice you're used to at Thanksgiving. Join Madison in discovering the more serious side of Beaujolais: The crus! Learn about the high-class wines of villages like Fleurie, Julienas, Moulin-a-Vent, and more. Participants must be 21 years old. Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot attend a class you have registered for, registration is transferable to another France 44 class through Dojour. All classes are subject to minimum enrollment. If a class is cancelled, we'll notify you 48 hours in advance. Please notify France 44 with any dietary restrictions or preferences.
