knitting 101: Make a Scarf (2 part series)

It's that time of year again: sometimes kind of cold? Texas is weird, but it is technically winter now so let's pretend together. If you've always meant to learn to knit but never quite gotten around to it, now's the time to start!

In this class, we'll learn the knitting basics over two dates. In the first class, students will learn to cast on, knit and purl. You will then have time to work their scarf to its eventual length -- before we come back for part 2 and learn to cast off and add finishing decorations.

Students will learn to cast on, cast off, knit, and purl, and how to combine those, and decorative elements!, to make a scarf.

Knitting needles will be provided, and students can either bring their own yarn or purchase yarn at the time of the first class for an additional $10. (If you have specific color request, please message the studio at least a week before the first class and we will do our best to accommodate it.)

If you are bringing your own yarn, please choose yarn that is marked for size 7, 8, or 9 US knitting needles and bring at least 200 yards. More if you'd like to make a very wide or very long scarf.

In this 2-part class, you will

• learn how to cast on, cast off, knit, and purl,
• receive knitting needles of the appropriate size,
• bring your own yarn or purchase from us,
• come back for part 2 to learn how to add decorations and finish your scarf, and
• learn in a small group setting with one-on-one support as needed.

Please note that part 1 of this 2-part class is Thursday, January 20, and part 2 is Thursday, February 3, both 6:30-8:30pm. Purchasing a seat reserves your spot in both dates!

Reservations required. No kids. Workshops are refundable up to 72 hours in advance. 1 spot is for 1 person unless otherwise noted.

COVID note:

We are opening 6 seats in this class, and all guests plus the teacher will be seated around a 10 foot x 5 foot table. Sometimes in our classes, you may need to get close to the teacher to see what he's doing or get guidance. To protect our teachers and guests, vaccination (unless medically exempt) and masks are required.
